The annual BIBA conference is the premier opportunity of the year to network with over 5,000 insurance professionals. And whilst much of the focus is on the floor of the event, it remains to be said that much of the networking is done outside of the conference hours. To help with your plans, we’ve put together a shortlist of our recommendations for bars and restaurants to look at. Of course, every situation is likely to be different, so if you’re looking to find the perfect restaurant to close a deal, treat a client, celebrate a win, enjoy a well earned beer or simply let your hair down and relax, we think we might have something for you. So without further ado, here are our votes for the best restaurants and bars in Manchester to...
...treat a client
Australasia (see photo above) Whether you’re there to impress a client or treat a business partner, Australasia is hands down one of the best restaurants in Manchester. Accessed via a mini Louvre-style glass pyramid at street level, you find a fantastic menu, a fusion of modern Australian cuisine with touches of Pacific Rim flavours, and an impressive wine list. An absolute must if you really want to impress. If you’re not planning a full dinner, why not try their bar also? With an impressive list of cocktails alongside all the classics and a bar food menu including tempura, sushi and sashimi, it would make an ideal venue for a small gathering.
Podium Restaurant, Hilton Hotel A smart, sophisticated choice, and likely where your clients could be staying, the Podium Restaurant is the perfect place to enable you to continue to conduct business throughout the evening. With a traditionally British menu including locally reared Cheshire beef fillet and potted beef Scotch eggs, you can be assured the food and wine will not disappoint.
...celebrate a win
Rosso The ambiance, an opulent a la carte menu and often with live entertainment in the evenings, Rosso might just be the perfect restaurant to celebrate a new business win. A wide variety of very good Italian-influenced food and drink, alongside the atmosphere makes Rio Ferdinand’s Rosso an easy choice for the more celebratory occasion.
...enjoy a well earned beer
The Knott The best pint in Manchester, hands down. If you’re looking for a pub that really knows its beer, look no further. A brilliant selection of cask ales, craft beers and continental lagers, all from some of the top micro-breweries in the country. Whether you’ve got a client who’s a real ale fan and want to do something a bit different, or are looking for the perfect pint to relax post-conference, The Knott is your place.
...schmooze over cocktails
The Alchemist The Alchemist (Spinningfields branch – there’s three in Manchester), provides the perfect venue for hosting evening drinks following a long day. With high ceilings and a smart atmosphere, a huge list of hand-crafted cocktails, a good selection of bar food, the Alchemist is our recommendation for taking clients, prospects or your team off for a post-conference drink, or three...
...let your hair down
Revolucion de Cuba “RUM LOVERS REJOICE... THE REVOLUCION IS UPON US”. Inspired by the party atmosphere of the Cuban rum bars during the American Prohibition, Revolucion De Cuba is the spiritual home for rum fans. With live Latin musicians every night and an incredible rum collection and cocktail menu, this bar is a must for anyone looking to celebrate the end of a good two days!
...hide away and relax
The Armenian Taverna Finally, a personal recommendation from a colleague. If you’re all networked out, or perhaps looking for a low key meal, we recommend The Armenian Taverna. A hidden gem, and difficult to find if you don’t know where you’re going, this family-run restaurant serves up some of the most fantastic and traditional Armenian food, with generous portions. You should find yourself pleasantly surprised with the bill too!
