“Les Rencontres” remains the number one event in the French insurance landscape, presenting a unique opportunity to network with customers and partners. As usual, our team was on site to support our French customers both in preparation and to ensure they maximise the value of the three day event.

As I stated on a recent video from our friends at News-Assurances between workshops (2m30s into video), we found that one of the leading debates of the conference was that relating to the value “Les Rencontres” has for the industry. Throughout our discussions with clients, insurers and brokers, two clear points of view became apparent.

There were of course some who saw the repetition of an annual event, arguably with little change in format, an uncertain return on investment.

However in contrast, the majority opinion among our customers echoed both the increased professionalism of “Les Rencontres”, as well as the underlying need for an active and planned participation.

Whilst maintaining its traditions, “Les Rencontres” continues to have real business momentum, reflecting the greater investment in time and money made by the exhibitors, both in terms of their stands and in their engagement strategy with their prospects and partners.

To be or not to be?

The pragmatic conclusion of what became both a highly animated and philosophical discussion on the train back from Deauville on the question of “to be or not to be” could be summed up as follows:

Simply acting as an exhibitor or attendee of “Les Rencontres” is not sufficient enough to justify the cost. However, through strategic pre-planning, wise investment and taking full advantage of the opportunities present on the days there, the potential value for your business can dramatically improve your return on investment. It is absolutely essential to plan and invest wisely in order to stand out in the right way and take advantage of the many opportunities present.

Throughout 2014 and 2015, we will be supporting our customers across the majority of major European exhibitions (Including Ferma, BIBA, AIRMIC, DVS, Monte Carlo, European Captive Forum, PFS and AMRAE), so please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss how to ensure you too are maximising the possible value of these events.
